Netflix Orders ‘The One’ Sci-Fi Based On John Marrs Novel From ‘Misfits’ Howard Overman

Netflix has handed out a 10-episode season order to sci-fi drama The One, based on the novel by John Marrs from ‘Misfits’ creator Howard Overman the streaming service has announced.

Set five minutes in the future, ‘The One’ takes place in a world where a DNA test can find your perfect partner – the one person you’re genetically predisposed to fall passionately in love with. No matter how good your relationship, which one of us can honestly say we haven’t thought about whether there is someone better out there? What if a hair sample is all it takes to find them? The idea is simple, but the implications are explosive. We will never think of love and relationships in the same way again.

The show comes from Howard Overman who serves as creator, writer and exec producer. Along with the much beloved ‘Misfits’, Overman also created the series ‘Crazyhead’ for Channel 4/Netflix, BBC drama ‘Atlantis’, and the sci-fi show ‘Future Man’ which runs on Syfy UK.

Urban Myth Films is the production company behind the project, in association with StudioCanal. Johnny Capps and Julian Murphy will join Overman exec producing for Urban Myth Films.

There is no release date set for The One yet, but we’ll let you know when we hear more.
