‘Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD’ Gets A 7th Season Renewal!

US network ABC has dropped some good, and rather unexpected, news to brighten up your Friday. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been renewed for a 7th Season before Season 6 has even aired!

It’s fair to say, ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ has evolved somewhat over the years. What started out as a show which followed Coulson and his merry band of agents as they handle the day-to-day strange cases without superhero intervention, ended up expanding into something much bigger. They introduced the Inhumans, battled HYDRA, fought L.M.D. (Life Model Decoy) AIDA with the help of Ghost Rider, got stuck in a virtual Framework, and ended up in space… in the future!

Back in the Summer, ABC gave AoS a shortened episode Season 6 run of 13 episodes to air in 2019, and it’s believed the 7th Season will be another 13 episodes, possibly shot back-to-back. However, there may be someone missing from the cast…

In the press release, it lists the stars as Ming-Na Wen (May), Chloe Bennet (Daisy), Iain De Caestecker (Fitz), Elizabeth Henstridge (Simmons), Henry Simmons (Mack), Natalia Cordova-Buckley (Yo-Yo) and Jeff Ward (Deke).

You might notice the glaring omission of Clark Gregg’s Agent Phil Coulson there, last seen on a beach in Tahiti with May. Coulson had discovered he was dying, so it does beg the question as to whether he is really gone, or they just left him off the press release to keep us guessing. Hopefully, we’ll get some answers when Season 6 airs next year. If he is gone from AoS, Coulson/Gregg fans (and who isn’t, he’s awesome), can still catch him playing a younger version of Coulson in next year’s ‘Captain Marvel’ movie.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ airs on E4 in the UK, and should return for Season 6 in the latter part of 2019.
