Victoria Pedretti Joins Season 2 Of Netflix’s ‘YOU’
Greg Berlanti’s Netflix drama ‘YOU‘ will have a new face when it returns for it’s 2nd Season as the stalker drama adds Victoria Pedretti to the cast.
Based on Caroline Kepnes’ best-selling novel of the same name, ‘YOU’ is a 21st century love story about an obsessive, yet brilliant twentysomething who uses the hyper connectivity of today’s technology to make the woman of his dreams fall in love with him. Season 1 saw brilliant bookstore manager Joe (Penn Badgley – ‘Gossip Girl’) cross paths with “Beck” (Elizabeth Lail – ‘Once Upon a Time’) an aspiring writer. Using the internet and social media as his tools to gather the most intimate of details and get close to her, a charming and awkward crush quickly becomes obsession as he quietly and strategically removes every obstacle – and person – in his way.
Now for the SPOILER WARNING – If you’ve watched Season 1, you will know that things don’t end too well for Beck… Which means the show needs a new female lead. Netflix has turned to the hugely popular ‘Haunting Of Hill House’ for its 2nd Season star, and cast Victoria Pedretti as Joe’s latest obsession.
Pedretti is set to play Love Quinn, an aspiring chef working as a produce manager in a high-end grocery store. Love is uninterested in the world of social media, branding and self-promotion, focused instead on leading an interesting life. She is also tending to a deep grief – and when she meets Joe, she senses a shared knowledge of profound, life-changing loss.
The part of Love Quinn may only be Pedretti’s third major role in tv and film since graduating 18 months ago, but it’s fair to say she is off to a flying start! Having landed the part of Nell Crain on ‘Haunting Of Hill House’, she is following that with the role of Lulu in Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming movie, ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’. She is also due to appear in Apple’s reimagining of the anthology series ‘Amazing Stories’.
‘YOU’ comes from Greg Berlanti (DC/CW shows, ‘Riverdale’) and Sera Gamble (‘The Magicians’, ‘Aquarius’, ‘Supernatural’) who serve as writers and exec producers. the series was an original production by US network Lifetime, however, they have decided to drop out to focus more on their movie programming. Netflix has always been the broadcaster for the drama internationally and has decided to continue the series on their own. The change won’t affect UK audiences, but US fans will now need to be on the streaming service to watch Season 2.
‘YOU‘ Season 1 is currently available on Netflix UK. Season 2 does not yet have a premiere date, but is likely to be later this year.
