Sky Atlantic has released the full trailer for the upcoming 3rd season of spectacular HBO drama Westworld, which premieres 16th March 2020 in the UK.

The first season of the show was set in a futuristic theme park staffed by artificial beings, where guests of ‘Westworld’ can live out their wildest fantasies. However, when the robots began to run amok, and the guests found themselves in a place where anything can happen.

*SEASON 2 SPOILERS* In the 2nd Season, the park was in full revolt as the hosts started to fight back. That resulted in a number of our synthetic hosts escaping the confines of the park and into the “real world”, which is where we find ourselves in Season 3.

This new trailer adds even more intrigue. Unlike the previous trailers, which saw Thandie Newton’s Maeve, along with fellow host Hector (Rodrigo Santoro), in some sort of WW2 theme park, this new one shows Maeve out in the real world, and asked to perform a task… kill Evan Rachel Wood’s Dolores! The person handing out that order is the brilliant Vincent Cassel (‘Jason Bourne’, ‘Black Swan’) who seems to be playing some sort of industrial bigwig, who is not very happy with the trouble Dolores is causing.

Fear not though. Dolores has enlisted her own help in the form of ‘Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul, who plays Caleb, a construction worker and, it would seem from this previous trailer, something of a grifter, who is roped into Dolores’ plot. It also seems Dolores has Ed Harris’s William trapped, as he finally gets to “the end of the game”… although, probably not in the way he envisaged.

Also returning this season are Jeffrey Wright as Bernard, Tessa Thompson as Charlotte, and Luke Hemsworth as Stubbs. They are joined by newcomers Lena Waithe (Master of None), Scott Mescudi (Need for Speed), Marshawn Lynch, John Gallagher, Jr. (10 Cloverfield Lane), Michael Ealy (2 Fast 2 Furious) and Tommy Flanagan (Gladiator).

The theme for this new season is “New World” and co-creator Jonathan Nolan comments: “Dystopia can look pretty beautiful in the world. Just because the world is corrupt inside, doesn’t mean it can’t be smothered over and pretty. We wanted to find a version of dystopia that we hadn’t seen before.”

Westworld‘ Season 3 premieres in simulcast with the US on Monday, 16th March 2020 at 2am on Sky Atlantic & NOW TV in the UK. The series broadcasts March 15th, 2020 on HBO in the USA.
