‘The Blacklist’ Renewed For Season 8

NBC has renewed The Blacklist for an 8th Season the US broadcaster has announced.

The Blacklist’ stars James Spader as criminal mastermind Raymond “Red” Reddington and Megan Boone as Elizabeth Keen, the FBI agent who is part of the Reddington task force, a group designed to take down Red’s “Blacklist” – individuals so dangerous and devious that the US government is unaware of their very existence.

“Congratulations to our incredible cast, producers and crew, all of whom continue to reach excellence week in and week out,” commented Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, Co-Presidents of Scripted Programming, NBC Entertainment. “We couldn’t be more excited to continue Red and Liz’s story into season eight.”

The 7th Season which is due to return for the second half of the season Friday, March 20 at 8 p.m. ET/PT in the US, and air later this year on Sky One in the UK, begins with Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) finds himself alone in hostile territory, after being abducted by Katarina Rostova, unsure of who, if anyone, he can trust. Surrounded by old enemies and new allies, Red must stay one step ahead of the Blacklist’s most dangerous criminal, who will stop at nothing to unearth the very truth Red wants no one to know about. To find it, Katarina will insinuate herself into the life of Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone), who has finally reunited with her daughter Agnes. Katarina’s presence will bring danger to Liz’s doorstep and forever alter her relationship with Red.

Currently in its seventh season on NBC, ‘The Blacklist’ is averaging a 1.1 rating in adults 18-49 and 6.6 million viewers overall in “live plus seven day” Nielsens to tie as the season’s #1 Friday drama in most current 18-49 season standings. With the addition of digital and linear delayed viewing to date, the show’s Oct. 4 season premiere has grown to a 1.6 in 18-49 and 8.1 million viewers.

“‘The Blacklist’ continues to tell exciting and imaginative stories,” adds Chris Parnell, Co-President, Sony Pictures Television. “It’s due to the brilliant cast, crew and our writing staff, led by Jon Bokenkamp and John Eisendrath, who commit to unparalleled creativity. Wait until you see what’s in store for season eight. Thank you to Lisa Katz, Tracey Pakosta, Pearlena Igbokwe and all of our partners at NBC and Universal Television.”

The Blacklist‘ Season 7 is expected to air later in 2020 on Sky One. Season 7, part 2 airs Friday, March 20 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC in the US.
