Innovative Netflix Procedural ‘Criminal’ Gets September Premiere Date For Season 2 & “First Look” Photos

Innovative Netflix procedural drama Criminal returns for a 2nd Season this September, with more bad people facing the police interview suite.

From co-creators & showrunners George Kay (‘Killing Eve’, ‘The Hour’) and Jim Field Smith (‘Endeavour’, ‘The Wrong Mans’), the revolutionary procedural takes place exclusively within the confines of a police interview suite, in a stripped-down, cat-and-mouse drama focuses on the intense mental conflict between detectives and suspects. The casting for the drama sees the law enforcement side as the regular cast, with guest stars taking the roles of the accused, or persons being questioned.

Season one of the drama featured guest stars David Tennant, Hayley Atwell, Youssef Kerkour, and Clare-Hope Ashitey in the interview hot seat. Netflix has yet to release who will be taking the criminal guest roles in season two, however it would seem from the photos Katherine Kelly (‘Class’, ‘Strike Back’), Lee Ingleby (‘Inspector George Gently’, ‘Line of Duty’),  Mark Stanley (‘Game of Thrones’, ‘Dickensian’), Rochenda Sandall (‘Line of Duty’), and Shubham Saraf (‘Bodyguard’) are back to make up the law enforcement series regulars.

Season two with feature four new cases, four new suspects and one room that changes everything. According to the press release, “prepare for bold stories, some surprises, and a completely innovative take on the police procedural.” Other than that, the press release doesn’t really give much away, but we’ll let you know when we have more! In the meantime, check out the photos below.

Criminal‘ Season 2 premieres Wednesday, 16th September 2020 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
