Netflix Releases Photo Of Geralt’s New Armour For ‘The Witcher’ Season 2

The Witcher‘ Season 2 is currently in production in the UK, and it seems Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia has got a nice new suit of armour next series!

Season 1 of ‘The Witcher’ followed Geralt of Rivia (Cavill), a solitary monster hunter, struggling to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtled him toward the powerful sorceress Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), and Ciri (Freya Allan), a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.

As we head into Season 2, Geralt, convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.

The returning cast for Season 2 includes Joey Batey (Knightfall, Strike) as wonderful travelling bard Jaskier, along with MyAnna Buring (Ripper Street, Kill List) as Tissaia, Anna Shaffer (Harry Potter) as Triss Merigold, Tom Canton (The Good Karma Hospital, Wasted) as Filavandrel, Therica Wilson-Read (Profile) as Sabrina, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte (Jamillah & Aladdin, Dickensian) as Dara, Lars Mikkelsen (House of Cards, Sherlock) as Stregobor, Mimi Ndiweni (Black Earth Rising) as Fringilla Vigo, Eamon Farren (The ABC Murders, Twin Peaks) as Cahir, and Royce Pierreson (Wanderlust, Judy) as Istredd.

With Geralt returning to Kaer Morhen, that means we meet a number of new Witchers this season. These include Kim Bodnia (Killing Eve) as Vesemir, the oldest and most experienced Witcher in the series, as well as a father figure to Geralt; Yasen Atour (Young Wallender) as Coen, a Witcher from Poviss; Paul Bullion (Peaky Blinders) as young Witcher Lambert; And Basil Eidenbenz (Victoria) as Eskel a witcher of the School of the Wolf (this role originally went to Thue Ersted Rasmussen, but he had to drop out due to COVID-caused scheduling conflicts!) Additional new cast includes Kristofer Hivju (‘Game Of Thrones’) as Nivellen, Aisha Fabienne Ross (The Danish Girl) as Lydia, Agnes Bjorn as Vereena, and Mecia Simson as Francesca.

In addition to a 2nd Season, it was previously announced that Netflix had commissioned a prequel limited series, The Witcher: Blood Origin. Set in an elven world 1200 years before the events of ‘The Witcher’, Blood Origin will tell a story lost to time – the origin of the very first Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal “conjunction of the spheres,” when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one.

The Witcher‘ Season 2 is filming right now, and will (hopefully!) premiere in 2021 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
