‘Outer Banks’: Season 2 Gets New Trailer & Premiering July On Netflix

by Dave Elliott

Netflix has released the full official trailer for the wonderfully fun teen adventure series Outer Banks, which returns for Season 2 this July on the streaming service.

‘Outer Banks’ is a coming of age story that follows a tight-knit group of local teens (the “Pogues”) in the beach vacation destination of the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Season 1 saw a hurricane kill the power for the summer season, but that event set off a chain of illicit activities that force the friends to make life-altering decisions. The search for their ringleader’s missing father, forbidden romances, a high-stakes treasure hunt, and the escalating conflict between the Pogues and their rivals turned their summer into one filled with mystery and adventure they’ll never forget.

Season 2 begins with John B and Sarah on the run in the Bahamas. New friends also bring new foes as they’re back on the trail of the gold, while the stakes for Kiara, Pope, and JJ rapidly escalate at home. The $400 million is still in the game, but will the uncovering of a newfound secret reunite the group for a fresh mission? The adventure of a lifetime awaits, but uncharted waters ahead mean our Pogues must do all they can to make it out alive.

The series stars Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Rudy Pankow, Austin North, Drew Starkey, Deion Smith, and Charles Esten, who will reprise their roles in Season 2.

If you’ve not watched season one, it really is a fun bit of escapist teen drama… Somewhat ‘The Goonies’ meets ‘Ozark’ meets ‘Dawson’s Creek’, which sounds like it shouldn’t work, but it really does! If you want to know more about the show, we have interviewed both Production Designer Daniel Novotny & Cinematographer Brad Smith, along with the series composer Fil Eisler, who give some really interesting insights into what goes into making the series.

Outer Banks‘ Season 2 premieres Friday, 30th July 2021 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
