‘Nautilus’: Shazad Latif Cast As Captain Nemo In Disney+ Series

‘Star Trek: Discovery’s Shazad Latif has been cast as Captain Nemo in new Disney+ series Nautilus the streaming service has announced.

Based on the Jules Verne’s classic novel 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, the ten-part live-action adventure sees Latif take the iconic role of Captain Nemo, the enigmatic Indian prince who steals a fantastical submarine from the East India Company and sets sail in search of adventure under the sea.

In this new iteration, Nemo is an Indian Prince robbed of his birthright and family, a prisoner of the East India Company and a man bent on revenge against the forces which have taken everything from him. But once he sets sail with his ragtag crew on board the awe-inspiring Nautilus, he not only battles with his enemy, he also discovers a magical underwater world.

Brit actor Shazad Latif is probably best known for his role as “Ash” on ‘Star Trek: Discovery’, and recently starred in BBC drama ‘The Pursuit Of Love’. He previously appeared in shows such as ‘Spooks’, ‘Penny Dreadful’, and ‘Toast of London’.

‘Nautilus’ is written and executive-produced by James Dormer (‘Strike Back’, ‘Sinbad’, ‘Medici’) and is being executive-produced by Johanna Devereaux for Disney. Michael Matthews (‘Love and Monsters’) has signed on to direct. Seven Stories and Moonriver TV produce the drama, which is due to begin filming in Australia next month.

Nautilus‘ does not yet have a premiere date, but will air on Disney+ worldwide. If you want to keep track of this or any other show, you can add it via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
