In this episode I’m chatting with Ian Grech BFE, editor of the film ‘14 Peaks: Nothing Is Impossible‘, which is now available to watch on Netflix.
With over 15 years of experience in Post-Production, Ian is an extremely sought-after Editor and Colourist. His work has been recognised by BAFTA, The Royal Television Society and The Primetime Emmy Awards, and has worked on projects such as ‘Top Gear’, along with a multitude of sports-related projects such as ‘Adam Hills: Take His Legs’, ‘Beyond Human’, and ‘UEFA Champions League’.
His latest work, ’14 Peaks: Nothing Is Impossible’, follows the fearless Nepali mountaineer Nirmal Purja aka “Nims”, as he embarks on “Project Possible”, a seemingly impossible quest to summit all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks in seven months. It was Ian’s job to elaborate on the character of Nims to show the audience what makes him the man that he is and what his motivations were for completing such a life-threatening task.
Throughout the editing process, Ian collaborated closely with director Torquil Jones to complete the challenging task of showcasing the trials and tribulations of each peak, whilst piecing together the hundreds of hours of footage in a way that was both exciting and true to the story.
