The CW New Show Trailers/Posters – ‘The Winchesters’, ‘Walker: Independence’, ‘Gotham Knights’

The CW held their upfront presentation this afternoon, and dropped two trailers and three posters for their upcoming shows, along with a surprise appearance from three ‘Supernatural’ reprobates who crashed the party to pitch some possible one-off specials… Before we get to that, here are the trailers and posters!

The Winchesters – Fall 2022

The Winchesters is a prequel to the much-beloved ‘Supernatural’. Before Sam and Dean, there was John and Mary. ‘The Winchesters’ will be told from the perspective of narrator Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles reprising his role for the voiceover), and is the epic, untold love story of how John met Mary and how they put it all on the line to not only save their love, but the entire world.

Meg Donnelly (American Housewife’) plays Mary Campbell. At 19 years old, Mary has been fighting the forces of darkness since she was a child. After losing someone close to her, the hardened hunter considers quitting the family business – until her father’s disappearance and the arrival of newcomer John Winchester forces her to lead a new team.

Drake Rodger (The In Between’) plays John Winchester. Recently returned from Vietnam, the selfless and clearheaded John finds a new mission back home, where traces of his father’s past lead him to a secret organization and a whole new war as a hunter.

The series comes from Jensen and Danneel Ackles who executive produce through their company, Chaos Machine Productions, alongside Robbie Thompson, former co-executive producer of ‘Supernatural’. Chaos Machine produces in association with Warner Bros. TV and CBS Studios.

Walker: Independence – Fall 2022

Walker: Independence is a prequel to the Jared Padalecki-led series ‘Walker’. Set in the late 1800s. It follows Abby Walker (Katherine McNamara), an affluent Bostonian whose husband is murdered before her eyes while on their journey out West. On her quest for revenge, Abby crosses paths with Hoyt Rawlins (Matt Barr), a lovable rogue in search of purpose. Abby and Hoyt’s journey takes them to Independence, Texas, where they encounter diverse, eclectic residents running from their own troubled pasts and chasing their dreams, all while becoming agents of change themselves in the small town.

The series comes from ‘Walker’ co-exec producer Seamus Fahey, based on a story by him and ‘Walker’ creator, Anna Fricke. The duo exec produces alongside Jared Padalecki. CBS Studios serve as the studio.

Gotham Knights – 2023

As this series doesn’t air until 2023, there is no trailer yet, only the poster.

Gotham Knights is set in the wake of Bruce Wayne’s murder, where his rebellious adopted son forges an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies when they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader. And as the city’s most wanted criminals, this renegade band of misfits must fight to clear their names. But in a Gotham with no Dark Knight to protect it, the city descends into the most dangerous it’s ever been. However, hope comes from the most unexpected of places as this team of mismatched fugitives will become its next generation of saviours known as the Gotham Knights.

The series stars Oscar Morgan (‘Masters of the Air’, ‘Warren’) as Turner Hayes, Bruce Wayne’s adopted son (yes… I know… why this isn’t a currently in-canon character is beyond me as well!); Fallon Smythe (‘Lost in the West’, ‘S.H.R.I.E.K.’) as Harper Row; Tyler DiChiara (‘Relish’) as Cullen Row; Olivia Rose Keegan (‘High School Musical: The Musical – The Series’) as Duela Dent; Navia Robinson (‘Dora the Explorer’, ‘Raven’s Home’) as Carrie Kelley; Misha Collins (‘Supernatural’) as Harvey Dent; Anna Lore (‘All American’) as Stephanie Brown; And Rahart Adams (‘Foursome’) as Brody.

The project comes from Natalie Abrams, James Stoteraux, and Chad Fiveash, who all worked on ‘Batwoman’. Stoteraux and Fiveash, who also worked on ‘Gotham’, exec produce along with Berlanti Productions Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden. Abrams co-executive produces.

Supernatural Stars Gatecrash…

In addition to revealing the trailers and posters at the Upfront, a cheeky ‘Supernatural’ trio showed up to help plug their new shows – Jared Padalecki, star of ‘Walker’ and EP on the spin-off, Jensen Ackles, co-creator and EP on ‘The Winchesters’, and Misha Collins, who is playing Harvey Dent in ‘Gotham Knights’.

Whilst the three were there to plug their new dramas, it didn’t stop them from pitching some ideas to CW boss Mark Pedowitz for possible one-off specials. Collins pitched “A Very Castiel Christmas”, with Ackles adding “How about an awards show from hell, we’ll call it the Demons’ Choice Awards,” and Padalecki going with “a very special Hanukkah episode of Walker Texas Rabbi.” These were, of course, jokes… although I REALLY want to see ‘A Very Castiel Christmas’ get made! They also took a selfie…

None of these series have UK broadcasters yet, but if you want to keep track of these or any other show, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
