‘Young Rock’ Season 2 Gets June UK Premiere On Sky Comedy & NOW

Young Rock is back for a 2nd Season in the UK this June on Sky Comedy and streaming service NOW.

The second season delves back into Dwayne Johnson’s life, continuing the storylines from season one while also introducing new chapters we haven’t yet seen. As Dwayne and his loving, resilient family face new challenges and meet new wild characters of professional wrestling, Dwayne contemplates embracing the grind of professional wrestling himself. The show will explore the crazy rollercoaster that has shaped Dwayne into the man he is today and the larger-than-life people he’s met along the way.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson bookends this larger-than-life family comedy based on outrageous stories of his youth. The coming-of-age journey highlights the unforgettable moments and incredible relationships that took Dwayne from ordinary kid to extraordinary superstar – revealing he’s more like us than we know.

The show follows Dwayne’s life from age 10 to his early 20s, with different actors taking on the task of being Dwayne at various stages. Adrian Groulx(‘The Adventures of Napkin Man!’) plays the youngest Dwayne Johnson (AKA Dewey); Bradley Constant (‘Following Phil’) plays mid-teen Dwayne Johnson; And Uli Latukefu (‘Harrow’, ‘Marco Polo’) plays Dwayne Johnson, aged 18-20. In addition to the various… ahem… “Rocks Of Ages”… (sorry…) Stacey Leilua plays Ata Johnson, Dwayne’s mother; Joseph Lee Anderson (‘Harriet’, ‘S.W.A.T.’) plays Rocky Johnson, Dwayne’s father; And Ana Tuisila plays Lia Maivia, Ata’s mother and Dwayne’s grandmother.

In the opening two episodes, as the 2032 election nears, Dwayne reflects on what it means to be a father; in 1984, little Dewey vies for his father’s attention; in 1987, teenage Dwayne arrives in Nashville; in 1996, adult Dwayne struggles in the Canadian Football League.

Then, in Calgary, 1996: Dwayne struggles to find his footing on the Calgary Stampeders practise squad; fearing he’ll be cut, he spends a life-changing day with a teammate; in 2032, an online troll threatens Dwayne’s presidential campaign.

Nahnatchka Khan, Jeff Chiang, Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, Jennifer Carreras, Hiram Garcia, Brian Gewirtz and Jeffrey Walker serve as executive producers. ‘Young Rock’ is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, Seven Bucks Productions and Fierce Baby Productions.

Young Rock‘ Season 2 premieres Friday, 24th June 2022 at 9pm on Sky Comedy and NOW with a double-bill.
