After an insanely busy June across UK tv, Sky are bringing even more shows and movies for you to get your teeth into in July. There are a number of brand new Original series, along with some returning US imports, and some big films. Here is a breakdown of the premieres coming to various Sky channels next month.
Drama & Comedy
The Baby – Thursday, 7th July 2022 – Sky Atlantic & NOW
The Baby is a darkly funny, raw examination of motherhood, from the perspective of a woman who doesn’t want to be one…
Michelle De Swarte (‘The Duchess’) plays Natasha, who is furious that her closest friends are all having babies. But when she is unexpectedly landed with a baby of her own, her life dramatically implodes. Controlling, manipulative but incredibly cute, the baby twists Natasha’s life into a surreal horror show. As she discovers the true extent of the Baby’s deadly nature, Natasha makes increasingly desperate attempts to get rid of it. She doesn’t want a baby. But the baby definitely wants her.
The series also stars Amira Ghazalla (‘The Rhythm Section’, ‘Sense8’) as Mrs Eaves, the 70-year-old enigma who has spent the last fifty years living out of her car and seems to be everywhere the Baby is, and Amber Grappy as Bobbi, Natasha’s younger sister, a children’s magician who would love nothing more than to be a parent, to give love and to receive it.
Breeders, Season 3 – Wednesday, 13 July 2022 – Sky Comedy/NOW
‘Breeders’ continues its bitter-sweet look at the struggles of modern parenthood. Season 3 starts days after Season 2 ended, as the Worsley family reels from teenager Luke (Alex Eastwood) punching his dad, Paul (Martin Freeman). Paul’s moved out and is staying at his mother-in-law Leah’s (Stella Gonet) house. He should be lonely but actually, the simpler life has its appeal. Eventually, though, amends with Luke must be made. Meanwhile, Ally (Daisy Haggard) has her own problems – with work, with her early menopause and with her increasingly strained relationship with her newly adolescent daughter, Ava (Eve Prenelle). Gallows humour and large glasses of wine only go so far in quelling the angst…
FBI, Season 4 – July 2022 – Sky Witness/NOW
From Emmy Award winner Dick Wolf and the team behind the “Law & Order” brand, ‘FBI’ is a fast-paced drama about the inner workings of the New York office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This elite unit brings to bear all their talents, intellect and technical expertise on major cases in order to keep New York and the country safe.
FBI: Most Wanted, Season 3 – July 2022 – Sky Witness/NOW
The high-stakes drama returns. Supervisory Special Agent Jess LaCroix (Julian McMahon), an expert tracker and profiler with a complicated past, leads the Fugitive Task Force, an elite unit that relentlessly pursues and captures the notorious criminals on the Bureau’s Most Wanted list.
New Amsterdam, Season 4 – July 2022 – Sky Witness/NOW
After a turbulent year of sacrifice and hardship, Medical Director Max Goodwin and the team at New Amsterdam begin a well-deserved new chapter in their lives. The opening episode, titled “More Joy,” reflects both the drive of characters and the tone of Season four. More joy: How can we find it, and how can we hold on to it? For Max, that means acknowledging and surrendering to his long-simmering feelings toward Dr Helen Sharpe. While this new relationship brings its own set of challenges, Max continues his optimistic – and quixotic – quest to improve the nation’s health care system.
The Resort – July 2022 – Peacock
A multi-generational, coming-of-age love story disguised as a fast-paced mystery about the disappointment of time. An anniversary trip puts a marriage to the test when the couple finds themselves embroiled in one of the Mayan Riviera’s most bizarre unsolved mysteries that took place fifteen years prior. Starring William Jackson Harper, Cristin Milioti and Nick Offerman.
