Similar to another classic in 300, Immortals serves up a strong dose of violence that makes it a worthy contender on the list. Despite a rather thin plot and a very weak nod towards Greek mythology, the movie makes up for it with a wave of violence and some stunning visuals throughout to create a solid watch on the whole. For many fans of Greek mythology movies, Immortals and 300 divide opinion. Feel free to watch both and decide which one is best for yourself but somewhat controversially, we’re edging towards this 2011 epic.
Clash Of The Titans (2010)
For many, Clash Of The Titans is the very best movie from this intriguing genre, and it’s easy to see why. While the debate as to whether or not the original is better will rumble on, both movies are well worth sampling, although the 2010 version probably edges it despite it being far from perfect. Despite the CGI monsters lacking the charm of the original, it’s a more advanced production on the whole, with new and improved special effects and excellent cinematography that just isn’t on offer in the original.
Spartacus (1960)
Although Spartacus might not stand up against some modern-day productions, there is no denying just how much of a classic it is. Directed by Stanely Kubrick in 1960, Spartacus is essentially a romanticised version of historical events, with rebellion against the Roman empire being the main focus on this powerful tale. For fans searching for an array of memorable battle scenes in particular, Spartacus most definitely has you covered.
