Paramount has released a new trailer for the very fun-looking film ‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’, a brand new movie based on the popular RPG, which lands in cinemas this March.
‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ brings the rich world and playful spirit of the legendary roleplaying game to the big screen in a hilarious and action-packed adventure. The film follows a charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers as they embark on an epic quest to retrieve a lost relic… But things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people.
The movie stars Chris Pine (‘Star Trek’), Michelle Rodriguez (‘Fast & Furious’ franchise), Regé-Jean Page (‘Bridgerton’), Justice Smith (‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’), Sophia Lillis (‘I Am Not Okay with This’), Chloe Coleman (‘Upload’, ‘Big Little Lies’), Daisy Head (‘Shadow and Bone’, ‘Harlots’) and Hugh Grant.
It would be, I think, fair to say, Dungeons & Dragons has had a bit of a rough ride when it comes to film adaptations, however, this film rather embraces the fun of playing the game than trying to be all “high fantasy”. The movie is written and directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the screenwriters behind ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, both of whom are massive D&D fans, and it clearly shows. Michael Gilio (‘Dark Harvest’) also has a screenwriting credit, and it is based on a story from Gilio and Chris McKay (‘Robot Chicken’).
In addition to the movie, there is also a live-action tv series ordered for an eight-episode series by Paramount, from ‘Red Notice’ filmmaker Rawson Marshall Thurber. It’s not clear if the series will have any connection to this film.
‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ is produced by Jeremy Latcham, p.g.a., Brian Goldner, and Nick Meyer, with Denis L. Stewart, Jonathan Goldstein, John Francis Daley, Chris Pine, Zev Foreman, and Greg Mooradian exec producing. The film comes from Paramount Pictures in association with eOne.
