The Roku Channel has released a trailer for ‘Most Dangerous Game: New York‘, the sequel to the series which Roku picked up from the now defunct Quibi streaming service, which sees Christoph Waltz return as a man who organises hunts across cities for the most dangerous prey there is… people with nothing to lose.
The new drama follows Victor, a down-on-his-luck fighter, who will do anything to protect his sister – and when he learns she’s in trouble – he springs into action. Needing to come up with half a million dollars to protect her – he agrees to participate in a deadly game – to be hunted through the mean streets of New York for 24 hours by five of the most experienced hunters in the world. If he survives, he’ll make a fortune. Out of love for his sister – he’s determined to live…
The lead role of Victor is played by ‘The Umbrella Academy’ star David Castañeda, whilst Christoph Waltz returns as Miles Sellars, the hunt organiser. The drama also stars Anna Gunn (‘Breaking Bad’), Ciara Bravo (‘Cherry’), Martina Ortiz Luis (‘Wynonna Earp’), and Aaron Poole (‘The Communist’s Daughter’, ‘American Gods’).
The original of ‘Most Dangerous Game’ starred Liam Hemsworth as the “hunted” and followed Quibi’s experimental format of short-form episodic releases. It was nominated for two Emmy awards – Outstanding Short Form Drama Series, and an Outstanding Actor in a Short Form Drama Series for Waltz. The series was later re-released in a movie format on Prime Video, which you can find here.
Created by Josh Harmon & Scott Elder and Nick Santora, the drama is written by Santora (‘Reacher’, ‘The Fugative’), and directed by Sam Hill (‘Reacher’, ‘CSI: Vegas’).
