‘The Power’: Prime Video Releases Trailer For Naomi Alderman Adaptation, Premiering March

by Dave Elliott

Prime Video has released a trailer for The Power, an emotionally driven, global thriller from SISTER (‘Chernobyl’) and showrunner Raelle Tucker (‘True Blood’, ‘Jessica Jones’), based on British author Naomi Alderman’s award-winning novel, that premieres in March on the streaming service.

From trophy to tyrant, outcast to outlaw, loner to leader, mayor to mutineer … how will ‘The Power’ transform you? ‘The Power’ is our world, but for one twist of nature. Suddenly, and without warning, teenage girls develop the power to electrocute people at will. The series features a cast of remarkable characters from London to Seattle, Nigeria to Eastern Europe, as the Power evolves from a tingle in teenagers’ collarbones to a complete reversal of the power balance of the world.

The series stars Toni Collette as Mayor Margot Cleary-Lopez, alongside John Leguizamo as Rob Lopez, Auli’i Cravalho as Jos Cleary-Lopez, Toheeb Jimoh as Tunde Ojo, Josh Charles as Daniel Dandon, Eddie Marsan as Bernie Monke, Ria Zmitrowicz as Roxy Monke, Zrinka Cviteši? as Tatiana Moskalev, Halle Bush as Allie Montgomery, and more.

Lauded as one of the best books of the year by The New York Times, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, NPR, Entertainment Weekly and the San Francisco Chronicle, ‘The Power’ was amongst President Barack Obama’s list of his favourite books from 2017. Longlisted for the 2017 Orwell Prize, The Power was also the winner of the 2017 Bailey’s Women’s Prize for Fiction. Already translated into more than twenty-five languages, ‘The Power’ has found global appeal and speaks to a movement that is sweeping across the world.

‘The Power’ comes from Amazon Studios and SISTER. Raelle Tucker (‘True Blood’, ‘Jessica Jones’) serves as showrunner.

The first three episodes of ‘The Power‘ will premiere exclusively on Prime Video UK and worldwide on Friday, 31st March 2023, with new episodes available each Friday.
