Netflix Renews ‘The Night Agent’ For Season 2 Just Days After Season 1 Launched
Sometimes Netflix takes its sweet time renewing a show, sometimes it doesn’t, and this is very much the latter, as just days after its launch on the streaming service, they’ve announced ‘The Night Agent‘ will return for Season 2.
Based on the novel by Matthew Quirk, The Night Agent is a sophisticated, character-based, action-thriller centring on a low-level FBI Agent who works in the basement of the White House, manning a phone that never rings — until the night that it does, propelling him into a fast-moving and dangerous conspiracy that ultimately leads all the way to the Oval Office.
Season one of the drama stars Gabriel Basso (‘The Big C’), Luciane Buchanan (‘The New Legends of Monkey’), Fola Evans-Akingbola (‘Siren’), Sarah Desjardins (‘Yellowjackets’, ‘Riverdale’), Eve Harlow (‘The 100’), Phoenix Raei (‘Clickbait’), Enrique Murciano (‘Without a Trace’), D. B. Woodside (‘Lucifer’, ’24’, ‘Buffy’), and Hong Chau (‘The Whale’, ‘Watchmen’).
If you’re wondering why the fast renewal, season one of the series, which is produced by Sony Pictures Television Studios, premiered on March 23, 2023 and immediately reached Netflix’s Top 10. The drama debuted in the #1 spot on the English TV List with 168.71M hours viewed, making it the most viewed title this week. The action-thriller ranks #3 for premiere week of viewing across all Season 1 TV and appeared in the Top 10 in 93 countries.

Shawn Ryan is no stranger to hit tv series, as the creator of shows such as ‘The Shield’, ‘SWAT’, and ‘Timeless’. He also served as exec producer on the brilliant ‘Lie To Me’, and writer on series such as ‘Angel’ and ‘Nash Bridges’.
