Prime Video has announced a host of guest stars who will join The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel for her big finale as the series returns for Season 5 this May.

The series, from Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, stars Rachel Brosnahan as Miriam ‘Midge’ Maisel, a 1958 New York City woman, who discovers she has a talent for stand-up comedy. Joining Brosnahan in guest roles for this last season will be Hank Azaria (Brockmire), Sutton Foster (The Music Man, Younger), Darren Criss (The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, American Buffalo), Danny Strong (Dopesick, Billions) and Sean Gunn (Guardians Of The Galaxy, Gilmore Girls),  alongside David Paymer who reprises his role as Harry Drake, the rival “frenemy” comic manager of Suzie.

Interestingly, there are a couple of top musical talents in that list. Sutton Foster is a Tony Award-winning actress, singer, and dancer who was most recently seen on the Broadway stage starring in an acclaimed turn as Marian Paroo in the Broadway revival of The Music Man, opposite Hugh Jackman.

Darren Criss is also no stranger to music, with multiple albums under his belt, along with appearing in the tv show ‘Glee’. More recently he won critical acclaim for his portrayal of Andrew Cunanan in Ryan Murphy’s award-winning television series ‘American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace’. We don’t have character descriptions for who they’re playing at the moment, so no idea if their musical background will come into the show or not!

Hank Azaria is, of course, well-known as the voice of Moe in ‘The Simpsons’, along with the tv show ‘Brockmire’, and popping up in ‘Ray Donovan’. He is currently appearing in the Apple TV+ series ‘Hello Tomorrow!’

Danny Strong popped up on our radar initially as Jonathan in ‘Buffy’, but has since gone on to become a massive writer, creator and showrunner on a host of top-end dramas and films, such as ‘Dopesick’, ‘The Butler’, ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay‘, and ‘Empire’. Not wishing to stay behind the camera, he has also appeared as an actor in ‘Billions’, ‘Mad Men’, and of course, the Palladino’s other big series, ‘Gilmore Girls’.

Sean Gunn is another veteran from ‘Gilmore Girls’ where he played lovable Stars Hollow resident Kirk Gleason. These days he is better known for his work alongside his brother, James Gunn, playing Kraglin in the MCU and can next be seen in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.’

They all join returning series regulars which include Emmy-winner Rachel Brosnahan, four-time Emmy-winner Tony Shalhoub, two-time Emmy-winner Alex Borstein, Emmy-nominee Marin Hinkle, Michael Zegen, Kevin Pollak, and Caroline Aaron. The Emmy-winning Luke Kirby also returns in a recurring role.

Previously announced Season 4 cast who have been upped to series regulars for the last season include Alfie Fuller as Susie’s assistant Dinah Rutledge, Jason Ralph as late-night booker Mike Carr, and Reid Scott as talk show host Gordon Ford. Other returning cast who will appear in guest roles include Kelly Bishop as matchmaker Benedetta, and Milo Ventimiglia as the mysterious “Handsome Man.”

As we head into Season 5, Midge finds herself closer than ever to the success she’s dreamed of, only to discover that closer than ever is still so far away.

‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’, comes from renowned creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive producer Daniel Palladino (‘Gilmore Girls’), and is written and directed by Sherman-Palladino and Palladino.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel‘ Season 5 premieres Friday, 14th April 2023 with three-episodes, with the rest of the nine-episode series airing weekly.
