Jennifer Garner Reportedly Returning To The Role Of Elektra for ‘Deadpool 3’

Well, this was a little unexpected! According to multiple reports today, Jennifer Garner is set to return to the role of Elektra for ‘Deadpool 3’, which she originally played in the 2003 FOX ‘Daredevil’ movie and the 2005 tie-in film.

We don’t know much about the film’s plot at this point, other than it will see Ryan Reynolds reprising the title role as the fourth-wall-breaking Merc with a Mouth, alongside Hugh Jackman, who returns to his FOX ‘X-Men’ movie role as Wolverine. Assuming this casting is correct (and multiple reputable sources have reported it), it does rather suggests that the film will have some sort of multiverse angle to it.

Interestingly, it does open the door to the possibility of Ben Affleck returning as Daredevil in the film as well, given he played that role opposite Garner in those movies. If that does happen, it would be a one-off, as Disney is already working on the Daredevil: Born Again series starring Charlie Cox in the title role. However, we know a lot of the current MCU slate has been dealing with the multiverse, and this new Deadpool film offers Disney/Marvel a great opportunity to smash together the old FOX/Marvel characters into the MCU in some way.

Shawn Levy is set to direct and exec produce the film, having previously worked with Reynolds on ‘Free Guy’, along with Reynolds and Garner in ‘The Adam Project’. Marvel’s Kevin Feige, exec produces the film alongside Levy and Reynolds. The script is written by Reynolds, Levy, Paul Wernick, Rhett Reese and Zeb Wells.

‘Deadpool 3’ is currently scheduled to land in cinemas in May 2024.
