‘Superman Legacy’: Gotham/Barry Star Anthony Carrigan Cast As Metamorpho

The ‘Superman Legacy’ cast continues to build as they add a DC veteran to the mix, with former ‘Gotham’ star Anthony Carrigan joining the movie as Metamorpho.

Anthony Carrigan is having a pretty good day, not only with this casting announcement but also having just been nominated for an Emmy in the Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series category for his role as “NoHo Hank” in ‘Barry’. Prior to that, you may have seen him in ‘Gotham’ as the DC villain Victor Zsasz, or on the ABC crime drama ‘The Forgotten’. He also popped up in ‘The Flash’ for a couple of episodes of the DC/CW drama playing Kyle Nimbus, aka Mist, and appeared in the films ‘Fatherhood’ opposite Kevin Hart, and ‘Bill & Ted Face the Music’ with Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves.

His latest DC role sees Carrigan play Metamorpho, aka Rex Mason, a former archaeologist turned hero with the ability to transmute himself into various elements and morph all or parts of his body into a variety of shapes. The character was created by Bob Haney and Ramona Fradon, and first appeared in 1965.

“I am unbelievably excited for Metamorpho (and this opportunity to work with Anthony Carrigan.),” said director James Gunn on social media.

This is the latest in a flurry of casting announcements for ‘Superman Legacy’, following the reveal that David Corenswet would take the title role as Clark Kent/Superman, alongside Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. It was then announced yesterday that they would be joined by Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific.

‘Superman: Legacy’ tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned. Gunn directs the film from his screenplay based on characters from DC. Superman was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

‘Superman: Legacy’ is currently scheduled to fly into cinemas in July 2025.
