‘Welcome to Wrexham’ Season 2 Gets September Premiere Date On Disney+ UK

The brilliant docuseries Welcome to Wrexham returns for Season 2 this September, airing on FX in the USA, and Disney+ in the UK it has been announced.

The six-time Emmy-nominated docuseries follows Hollywood stars Rob McElhenney (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) as they continue to navigate running the third-oldest professional football club in the world. ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ tracks the dreams and worries of Wrexham, a working-class town in North Wales, UK, as two Hollywood stars take ownership of the town’s historic yet struggling football club.

In 2020, McElhenney and Reynolds teamed up to purchase the team in the hopes of turning the club into an underdog story the whole world could root for. The worry? Rob and Ryan have no experience in football or working with each other. Season one rather managed to suppress those worries, as the duo proved how serious they were about their investment in Wrexham, improving the club and doing right by the townspeople.

Founded in 1864, the “Red Dragons” are one of the oldest football teams in the world and currently compete in the National League, the fifth tier of the English football league system. Last season we saw their fortunes massively improve, although, not quite manage to claw their way out of the National League… This season promises another rollercoaster ride of emotions, as they battle, once again, for a spot in League Two.

Welcome to Wrexham‘ Season 2 premieres Wednesday 13th September 2023 on Disney+ UK. The series airs on 12th September 2023 at 10pm on FX in the USA.
