‘Sanditon’: ITVX Bumps Back Season 3 UK Premiere Date
ITVX has bumped back the UK premiere date for the 3rd and final season of ‘Sanditon‘ by a couple of weeks (so, still August, but later than originally advertised…)
The acclaimed drama based on Jane Austen’s final, unfinished novel, developed by Emmy and BAFTA-winning writer Andrew Davies, tells the story of the joyously impulsive, spirited and unconventional Charlotte Heywood (Rose Williams) and her romantic journey. Sanditon is a sleepy seaside village on its way to becoming a deluxe and fashionable resort on the English coast. Its transformation means beaches and balls, fortune hunters, romance, and yes, heartbreak.

So, no reason was given, but as the series is already months behind the US, I’m guessing they’re thinking “What’s a couple more weeks…”
As we return for the final season, Charlotte Heywood returns to a now thriving Sanditon, with an eager fiancé in tow. It’s Georgiana Lambe’s 21st birthday, and while a lavish party awaits, an awkward reunion between Charlotte and Alexander Colbourne raises old feelings and new questions. And it’s not all celebration for Georgiana, who’s called on to meet a startling new challenge but finds support from unlikely sources. Through it all, Charlotte and Georgiana bond over their dilemmas, as well as their resolve to forge their own destinies.
As we head through these last episodes, expect more grand parties, wise and outspoken women, and lovely friendships that stand the test of time and circumstances. But many surprises are yet to arrive on Sanditon’s shores – astonishing new alliances, ghosts from the past, and all the complications of love and life.
‘Sanditon’ Season 3 returning cast includes Charlotte Heywood (Rose Williams), Georgiana Lambe (Crystal Clarke), Alexander Colbourne (Ben Lloyd-Hughes), Tom Parker (Kris Marshall), Mary Parker (Kate Ashfield), Lady Denham (Anne Reid), Edward Denham (Jack Fox), Arthur Parker (Turlough Convery), and other beloved residents of the seaside resort town.
In addition to the familiar faces, an intriguing set of new characters also arrive, including an estranged brother for Coulbourne played by Liam Garrigan (’24: Live Another Day’, ‘The Terror’); A love interest for Lady D in the shape of one Rowleigh Pryce (James Bolam – ‘The Likely Lads’, ‘New Tricks’); And the aristocratic but not altogether trustworthy Montrose family, whose matriarch (Emma Fielding – ‘Van der Valk’, ‘Unforgotten’) has the sole objective of marrying off her daughter Lydia (Alice Orr-Ewing – ‘A Very English Scandal’) and son Harry (Edward Davis – ‘The Little Drummer Girl’, ‘Shadow and Bone’).
