‘Étoile’: Gilmore Girls/Mrs. Maisel Creators Cast GG's Yanic Truesdale In Ballet Dramedy For Prime Video

Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino have a habit of roping in cast members from their old shows for new projects, and their new Prime Video series Étoile is no exception, as they announce ‘Gilmore Girls’ Yanic Truesdale will join the ballet dramedy.

Set in New York City and Paris, the series follows the dancers and artistic staff of two world-renowned ballet companies, as they embark on an ambitious gambit to save their storied institutions by swapping their most talented stars. Truesdale, who played the wonderfully sarcastic concierge, Michel, on ‘Gilmore Girls’, has landed a recurring role as Raphael, the right-hand to Genevieve, played by Charlotte Gainsbourg (En thérapie, Alphonse, Promise at Dawn), who heads up the Parisian ballet company. More recently, Truesdale teamed up with another GG alumna, Melissa McCarthy, for her Netflix series, ‘God’s Favorite Idiot’.

The Palladinos have also pulled in some other alumni from previous shows for the new series including Luke Kirby, who won an Emmy for his work as Lenny Bruce on ‘Maisel’. and film and TV star Gideon Glick who appeared in ‘Maisel’ as the magician “Alfie”, along with popping up ‘Ocean’s 8’, ‘The Detour’, and ‘Devious Maids’. They are joined by ‘Call My Agent!’ stand-out star Camille Cottin, who also appeared in ‘Killing Eve’; French actress Lou de Laâge (‘The Innocents’, ‘Julia(s)’); Dancer and Tony-winning actor David Alvarez, who appeared in Spielberg’s ‘West Side Story’, along with the tv show ‘American Rust’; And the legendary British actor Simon Callow who you’ll know from being in everything from ‘Doctor Who’ to ‘Hawkeye’, and ‘Outlander’ to ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’.
