Netflix has announced the Dead Boy Detectives series, based on characters created for DC by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner, and set in Netflix’s ‘Sandman’ universe, will premiere this April on the streaming service.

Do you have a pesky ghost haunting you? Has a demon stolen your core memories? You may want to ring the Dead Boy Detectives. Meet Edwin Payne (George Rexstrew) and Charles Rowland (Jayden Revri), ‘the brains’ and ‘the brawn’ behind the Dead Boy Detectives agency. Teenagers born decades apart who find each other only in death, Edwin and Charles are best friends and ghosts… who solve mysteries. They will do anything to stick together – including escaping evil witches, Hell and Death herself. With the help of a clairvoyant named Crystal (Kassius Nelson) and her friend Niko (Yuyu Kitamura), they are able to crack some of the mortal realm’s most mystifying paranormal cases.

‘Dead Boy Detectives’ stars George Rexstrew and Jayden Revri (‘The Lodge’) as Edwin Payne and Charles Rowland, the titular detectives, with Kassius Nelson (‘Hollyoaks’, ‘White Lines’) as Crystal. The series also stars Briana Cuoco (‘Harley Quinn’, and sister of Kaley) as Jenny the Butcher, Ruth Connell (‘Supernatural’) as the Night Nurse, Yuyu Kitamura as Niko, and Jenn Lyon (‘Justified’, ‘Claws’) as Esther.

The series comes from Steve Yockey (The Flight Attendant, Supernatural) and Beth Schwartz (Sweet Tooth, Arrow) who serve as co-showrunners, with Greg Berlanti (Riverdale, You), Jeremy Carver (Supernatural), and Sarah Schechter (Riverdale, You) as executive producers. ‘Dead Boy Detectives’ is part of Netflix’sThe Sandman universe, which is due to see Morpheus (Tom Sturridge) return for Season 2 later this year.

Dead Boy Detectives‘ Season 1 premieres Thursday, 25th April 2024 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
