Paramount+ has ordered a 2nd Season of Taylor Sheridan‘s ‘Lioness‘ (previously titled ‘Special Ops: Lioness’), starring Zoe Saldaña alongside Laysla De Oliveira, Michael Kelly, Morgan Freeman and Nicole Kidman.
Inspired by an actual US Military program, the drama follows the life of Joe (Saldaña) as she attempts to balance her personal and professional life as the tip of the CIA’s spear in the war on terror. Season one introduced us to “The Lioness Program”, overseen by Kaitlyn Meade (Kidman) and Donald Westfield (Kelly), which enlists an aggressive Marine Raider named Cruz (De Oliveira) to operate undercover alongside Joe among the power brokers of State terrorism in the CIA’s efforts to thwart the next 9/11.

Season one was a massive hit for Paramount+, setting a new record as the streamer’s most-watched worldwide series premiere on launch day, with nearly 6 million total viewers in its first week across both Paramount+ and on Paramount Network in the USA.

Alongside Saldaña, Kidman, Kelly and De Oliveira, the series regulars include Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, Stephanie Nur and Hannah Love Lanier.
‘Lioness’ is executive produced by Taylor Sheridan, David C. Glasser, Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Jill Wagner, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Malone and John Hillcoat. The series is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios for Paramount+.
