Prime Video Orders Drama ‘Countdown’ Starring Jensen Ackles, from Derek Haas

Prime Video has ordered ‘Countdown‘, a new drama from writer/producer Derek Haas (One Chicago, FBI: International) with Jensen Ackles (The Boys, Supernatural) attached to star.

Despite the silly image on this article (blame Prime Video for not supplying a good pic), the show isn’t a remake of the popular, long-running UK gameshow (although I’m sure ‘Supernatural’ fans would still watch the hell out of it if Jensen was involved!) This ‘Countdown’ is an action-drama which starts following a suspicious murder in broad daylight, which leads to LAPD officer Mark Meachum (Ackles) being recruited to join a secret task force of undercover agents from all branches of law enforcement to investigate. But as the truth of a more sinister plot comes into focus, the team must overcome their conflicting personal agendas to unite and save a city of millions.

The 13-episode  series comes from writer/producer Derek Haas who has worked on the ‘Chicago’ franchise, and ‘FBI: International’, and was developed for Ackles, who is also under a first-look television deal with Amazon MGM Studios. This is the first series from Haas under his new exclusive overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios.

Derek Haas created the series and serves as executive producer and showrunner. The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios.
