Back in May, the US’s Syfy network revealed it was adapting Tim Seeley and Mike Norton’s comic book ‘Revival‘ into a TV series. Now they have found their leads – ‘JAG’ star David James Elliott (no relation as far as I know!), and ‘Wynonna Earp‘s Melanie Scrofano.
On one miraculous day in rural Wisconsin, the recently deceased suddenly rise from their graves… But this is no zombie story as the “revived” appear and act just like they once were. when local Officer and single mother Dana Cypress (Scrofano) is unexpectedly thrown into the centre of a brutal murder mystery of her own, she’s left to make sense of the chaos amidst a town gripped by fear and confusion where everyone, alive or undead, is a suspect.
David James Elliott plays Wayne Cypress, the town sheriff. Elliott is best known for his role as Harmon ‘Harm’ Rabb Jr on the series ‘JAG’, the precursor to the hit series ‘NCIS’, and all its spin-offs. More recently he appeared in Stephen Amell/Alexander Ludwig-led wrestling drama ‘Heels’, sci-fi drama ‘Impulse’, and reprised his role as “Harm” in ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’.
Melanie Scrofano will play Dana, Wayne’s daughter who is about to leave town for good when Revival Day happens and changes her plans. Scrofano is, of course, well-known for playing the tile role in the much-loved ‘Wynonna Earp’. She also appeared in Candian series ‘Letterkenny’, and plays Captain Marie Batel in ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’.
In addition to Elliott and Scrofano, Romy Weltman (Ginny & Georgia), joins the cast as the sheriff’s younger daughter Martha “Em” Cypress, whose recurring illness has led to her having a very sheltered life; and Andy McQueen (Mrs. Davis, Outer Banks) plays Ibrahim Ramin, a Centre for Disease Control scientist sent to the town to figure out what brought the dead back to life.
The series, which is currently in production in New Brunswick, Canada, is created by Aaron B. Koontz (The Pale Door, Scare Package) and Luke Boyce (Seeds), based on the comic book by Tim Seeley and Mike Norton. Koontz and Boyce serve as showrunners and executive producers.
