The Boltonian wild-child returns as the BBC sets an October premiere date and releases a trailer for ‘Alma’s Not Normal‘ Season 2, created, written by, starring and executive produced by Sophie Willan.
‘Alma’s Not Normal’ centres on Alma Nuthall and her family of eccentric, unruly women. She was the creation of Sophie in 2018 when she was inaugural winner of the BBC’s Caroline Aherne Bursary Award.
Alma (Willan) is back in town and desperate for things to be different. She bags herself a talent agent, who turns out to be a bit of a blagger. She buys herself some new wheels, that she can’t afford. And lands herself an acting role that is completely demoralising. It’s safe to say, things are not panning out for Alma.
Meanwhile, Lin (Siobhan Finneran) is back in hospital and has discovered a penchant for Witchcraft. Jim (Nick Asbury) is living at Joan’s as her pet, and her best mate Leanne (Jayde Adams) has transformed a truck into a bar that’s become Bolton’s biggest hot-spot.
Just as Alma starts to settle back into her Bolton life, Joan (Lorraine Ashbourne) has some shocking news that’s going to change everything…
The six-episode comedy is an Expectation production for the BBC, written and Executive Produced by Sophie Willan. It is commissioned by Jon Petrie, Director of Comedy Commissioning. The Executive Producer for Expectation is Nerys Evans and the Commissioning Editor for the BBC is Emma Lawson. BBC Studios, who have a minority investment stake in Expectation, are handling international distribution.
‘Alma’s Not Normal‘ Season 2 premieres Monday, 7 October, 2024 at 10pm on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.
