Paramount Pictures Releases Full Trailer For Robbie Williams Biopic ‘Better Man’

by Dave Elliott

Paramount Pictures has released the full trailer for ‘Better Man’, the biopic of British pop star Robbie Williams… except Robbie is portrayed as a CGI chimpanzee… because, well, it’s Robbie…

‘Better Man’ is based on the true story of the meteoric rise, dramatic fall, and remarkable resurgence of British pop superstar Robbie Williams, one of the greatest entertainers of all time. Under the visionary direction of Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman), the film is uniquely told from Williams’ perspective, capturing his signature wit and indomitable spirit. It follows Robbie’s journey from childhood, to being the youngest member of chart-topping boyband Take That, through to his unparalleled achievements as a record-breaking solo artist – all the while confronting the challenges that stratospheric fame and success can bring.

Robbie Williams provides the voice of himself, whilst Jonno Davies (Hunter, Hollyoaks) provides the motion-capture performance. The cast also includes Steve Pemberton (The League of Gentlemen, Happy Valley) as Robbie’s father Peter, Damon Herriman (Justified, Mindhunter) as Take That manager Nigel Martin-Smith, Raechelle Banno (Home and Away, Pandora) as Nicole Appleton, Alison Steadman (Fat Friends, Here We Go) as Rob’s paternal grandmother Betty, Kate Mulvaney (Hunters, The Clearing) as Rob’s mother Janet, Frazer Hadfield (Frayed) as Nate, Tom Budge (The Artful Dodger, Upright) as Guy Chambers, and Anthony Hayes (Total Control, Strangers) as A&R guy Chris Briggs. The Take That boys are played by Jake Simmance (Gary), Liam Head (Howard), Jesse Hyde (Mark), and Chase Vollenweider (Jason).

The film is directed by Michael Gracey, who co-wrote the script alongside Simon Gleeson and Oliver Cole. The exec producers are Zhe Chen, Robbie Williams, Markus Barmettler, Philip Lee, Li-Wei Chu, Michael Loney, Thorsten Schumacher, Lars Sylvest, Mark Williams, Gregory Jankilevitsch, Klaudia Smieja, David Ravel, Domenic Benvenuto, Gianni Benvenuto, Zoran Stojkovic, Dean Hood, David Conley, Daniel Fluri, Adrian Grabe, Andres Kernen, Slava Vladimirov, Jared Underwood, and Andrew Robinson.

‘Better Man’ is released in select theatres from 25th December 2024, then released everywhere on the 17th of January 2025.
