‘Dexter: Resurrection‘, the next spin-off in the franchise, is bringing back three familiar faces – David Zayas (Angel), Jack Alcott (Harrison) and James Remar (Harry).
There is still no plot description for ‘Dexter: Resurrection’, however, it does appear to be a direct follow on from ‘Dexter: New Blood‘, set in the present day, with Michael C. Hall reprising his role as the title character. If you’re wondering “how?” given the end of ‘New Blood’, you need to watch the opening scene of the other spin-off, ‘Dexter: Original Sin‘.
David Zayas reprises his role from the original series as Angel Batista, now Captain of Homicide of the Miami Metro (as seen in ‘New Blood’), and was last shown honing in on Dexter and heading to the small town of Iron Lake where Dexter had been hiding out. Zayas other work includes ‘The Bear‘, ‘Shut Eye’, ‘The Expendables’, and upcoming film ‘The Running Man’.
James Remar returns as Dex’s father, Harry from the original series. The character first appeared in flashbacks but then started to appear to Dexter as a sort of spiritual guide when Dexter needed to work something out. Interestingly, he’s listed as a series regular role on the show, which suggests he might be back guiding Dex again. Renar’s other roles include ‘Sex and the City’, ‘City on a Hill’, ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ and ‘Django Unchained’.
Jack Alcott returns as Harrison, Dexter’s grown son, who first appeared in ‘Dexter: New Blood’. His other roles include ‘The Good Lord Bird’, ‘Poker Face’, and ‘The Blacklist’.
‘Dexter: Resurrection’ is executive produced by Emmy nominee Clyde Phillips (Dexter, Dexter: Original Sin, Nurse Jackie), who also returns to serve as showrunner, and produced by SHOWTIME Studios and Counterpart Studios. Michael C. Hall (Dexter, Six Feet Under) also serves as executive producer along with Scott Reynolds (Jessica Jones), Tony Hernandez (Emily in Paris) and Lilly Burns (Russian Doll), with Marcos Siega (Dexter: New Blood) serving as producing director. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
‘Dexter: Resurrection‘ starts production this month, and is set to launch in the summer of 2025 on Paramount+ UK and Paramount+ with SHOWTIME in the USA. If you want to keep track of this or any other show, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when they get a UK premiere date.
