US streaming service Peacock has released a trailer for Season 2 of the surprisingly good and wonderfully fun video game to TV series adaptation, ‘Twisted Metal‘, starring Anthony Mackie.
The first season introduced us to “John Doe” (Mackie), a motor-mouthed outsider who is offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. During his trip, he picks up and falls for “Quiet” (Stephanie Beatriz), a badass axe-wielding car thief, and, kinda, sorta, befriends “Sweet Tooth” (played by Joe “Samoa Joe” Seanoa and voiced by Will Arnett), a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck…
Following the revelations in the season one finale, season two finds John and Quiet entering the deadly Twisted Metal tournament, a sinister demolition derby hosted by a mysterious man known as Calypso (Anthony Carrigan). As they try to survive an onslaught of dangerous new foes and familiar faces alike, including the murderous clown Sweet Tooth, things get complicated for John when he reunites with his long-lost sister, the vigilante Dollface (Tiana Okoye).
The half-hour, high-octane, action-comedy series, based on the classic PlayStation games, is written and showrun by Michael Jonathan Smith (Cobra Kai), based on an original take by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland). It really shouldn’t work… It’s based on a demolition derby video game with zero plot to pull from. But Smith creates a brilliant, fun, weird, and entertainingly violent adaptation, with a wonderfully funny and enjoyable plot, which is far better than it has any right to be!
“The stakes couldn’t be higher as John Doe and Quiet risk their lives to compete in a dangerous demolition derby tournament,” said Smith about Season 2. “The prize? A single wish, their greatest heart’s desire, granted. The only problem is sixteen other drivers have wishes of their own. It’s too bad not all of them will survive.”
The series regular cast are Anthony Mackie, Stephanie Beatriz, and Joe Seanoa, with Will Arnett, and Anthony Carrigan. They are joined by recurring Guest Stars Saylor Bell Curda, Lisa Gilroy, Richard de Klerk, Patty Guggenheim, Tiana Okoye, and Michael James Shaw.

‘Twisted Metal‘ Season 2 is due to air on Peacock in the USA in Summer 2025. Season 1 is available on Paramount+ in the UK (and we urge you to go and watch it if you haven’t already!)
