Trailer Lands For ‘Mid-Century Modern’ From ‘Will & Grace’ Creators Starring Nathan Lane, Matt Bomer & Nathan Lee Graham

US streaming service Hulu has released the trailer for Mid-Century Modern, a new comedy starring Nathan Lane, Matt Bomer, Nathan Lee Graham and Linda Lavin, from ‘Will & Grace’ creators David Kohan & Max Mutchnick, and Ryan Murphy.

The series follows three best friends (played by Lane, Bomer, and Graham) — gay gentlemen of a certain age – who, after an unexpected death, decide to spend their golden years living together in Palm Springs where the wealthiest one, Bunny Schneiderman (Lane), lives with his mother, Sybil (Lavin). As a chosen family, they prove that no matter how hard things get, there’s always someone around to remind you it would be better if you got your neck done.

Nathan Lane (‘Only Murders in the Building’, ‘Modern Family’, ‘The Gilded Age’) plays Bunny Schneiderman, a successful businessman with one foot in retirement. Bunny is forever in search of love, but he first has to be convinced he’s worthy of it.

Matt Bomer (‘White Collar’, ‘Doom Patrol’, ‘Fellow Travelers’) plays Jerry Frank, who left the Mormon Church and his marriage in his early twenties after his wife informed him and the rest of the congregation that he was a homosexual. Now a latter-day saint in the literal sense of the term, Jerry is pure of heart. He is also hard of body and soft of head.

Nathan Lee Graham (‘Katy Keene’, ‘Zoolander’, ‘The Comeback’) plays Arthur. He’s described as a dignified, elegant, fashion industry veteran.

Lastly, Linda Lavin (‘B Positive’, ‘Alice’, ‘9JKL’) plays Bunny’s mother, Sybil. Like her son, Sybil’s strengths are her weaknesses: wise, caring, and iconoclastic… which sometimes means she’s critical, smothering and amoral.

This is one of the final roles for Linda Lavin, who had filmed seven of the ten-episode run when she died unexpectedly in December last year due to complications from recently discovered lung cancer. She was 87.

Guest stars in the comedy include Pamela Adlon, Vanessa Bayer, Kimberly Coles, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Judd Hirsch, Richard Kind, Stephanie Koenig, Billie Lourd, Esther Moon Wu, Jaime Moyer, Cheri Oteri, Rhea Perlman, Zane Phillips and more.

The show is created and written by Max Mutchnick and David Kohan, who are best known for creating the beloved sitcom ‘Will & Grace’. The legendary multi-award-winning James Burrows (‘Will & Grace’, ‘Cheers’, ‘Frasier’, ‘Taxi’, ‘Big Bang Theory’) directed the pilot. Mutchnick, Kohan, Burrows, Lane, and Bomer exec produce alongside the industry straddling Ryan Murphy (‘9-1-1’, ‘Glee’, ‘American Horror Story’, ‘Pose’, ‘Nip/Tuck’ and many more!), and 20th Television serves as the studio.

Mid-Century Modern‘ premieres March 28th, 2025, on Hulu in the USA. It’s made by Disney’s 20th Television, so that should mean it ends up on Disney+ in the UK, but that has not officially been confirmed. If you want to keep track of this or any other show, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
