Get ready to hear “Live from London, it’s Saturday Night!” from 2026 as Sky order a UK version of the iconic US late-night comedy showcase ‘Saturday Night Live‘, exec produced by ‘SNL’ creator Lorne Michaels.
‘‘Saturday Night Live UK‘ will be based in London and will follow the same live, fast-paced style that has made the show a cultural phenomenon with iconic hosts, musical guests and a core cast of the funniest British comedians around. Lorne Michaels is set to executive produce, in addition to continuing to executive produce SNL on NBC in the US.?SNL UK will be produced by Broadway Video and Universal Television Alternative Studio’s UK production team.
‘SNL’ has won the most Emmy Awards in television history, has been honoured four times with the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award and was inducted into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame. The show has launched the careers of some of the greatest comedic voices in history, including Bill Murray, Eddie Murphy, Tina Fey, Will Ferrell, and countless more.

We have had similar shows to SNL in the UK, most notably ‘Saturday Live’/‘Friday Night Live’ which ran on Channel 4 in the 80s/90s, and made household names of people such as Ben Elton, Harry Enfield, Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie, and more. Whilst that show was inspired by SNL, it didn’t have any direct connection to the US series. This will be the first time actual SNL has come to the UK, with Lorne Michaels behind it.
More details on the show’s UK debut, including cast, hosts, musical guests and premiere date, will be announced in the coming months.
