‘Outlander: Blood Of My Blood‘, the highly anticipated prequel series, will premiere this August on MGM+ in the UK and on Starz in the USA, it has been announced.
‘Blood of My Blood’ explores the lives and relationships of Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater), and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy), parents to the main show’s Jamie Fraser, along with Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine), the parents of Claire. However, they do stress this is a “stand-alone prequel series”, so you can jump in without fear if you haven’t watched the original.
The drama features new cast, characters and stories welcoming viewers unfamiliar with the Outlander universe, while also providing origin stories of fan-favourite characters from early seasons of Outlander, and offering new perspectives that will change what viewers of the original series think they know. The series will bring viewers from the war-torn battlefields of WWI to the sweeping Highlands of 18th century Scotland, promising two new love stories filled with loyalty, passion and desire, as the young couples defy the forces that seek to tear them apart.
In addition to Corfield, Irvine, Slater and Roy, ‘Outlander: Blood of my Blood’ stars Tony Curran as Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, Séamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie, Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie, Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser, and Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan.
Matthew B. Roberts serves as showrunner and executive producer on ‘Outlander: Blood Of My Blood’, with Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis and Jim Kohlberg, also serving as executive producers. It is produced by Sony Pictures Television.
‘Outlander: Blood of my Blood‘ premieres Saturday, 9th August 2025 on MGM+ in the UK. MGM+ is available as a Prime Video add-on. The drama airs Friday, August 8th, 2025 at 8 p.m. ET/PT in the U.S. and at 9 p.m. ET/PT in Canada.
