Netflix has unveiled the trailer for ‘The Twits’, a wildly funny and gloriously grotesque animated adventure based on Roald Dahl’s classic book. The film will arrive globally on the streamer this October, introducing a new generation to the meanest, smelliest, nastiest couple in children’s literature.
The movie comes from Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Phil Johnston (Wreck-It Ralph, Zootopia), who reimagines Jim and Credenza Twit as the vile proprietors of Twitlandia, the most disgusting and dangerous amusement park in the world. When the Twits rise to power in their town, two brave kids and a family of magical Muggle-Wumps must fight back using the Twits’ own brand of nasty trickery to save the day.
The voice cast is as gloriously oddball as the film itself, featuring Margo Martindale (The Americans, The Sticky), Johnny Vegas (Benidorm, Bleak House), Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (Never Have I Ever, Freakier Friday), Ryan Lopez (Primos, Phineas and Ferb), Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Natalie Portman (Black Swan, Fountain of Youth), Timothy Simons (Nobody Wants This, Veep), Nicole Byer (Long Story Short, Why Won’t You Date Me?), Jason Mantzoukas (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Big Mouth), Alan Tudyk (Andor, Superman), Mark Proksch (What We Do in the Shadows, Better Call Saul), Rebecca Wisocky (Ghosts, Devious Maids), and Charlie Berens (Green and Gold).
Adding to the chaos, the soundtrack features new music from David Byrne, featuring Hayley Williams, which feels like the perfect pairing for the Twits’ brand of unhinged mischief.
Director Phil Johnston said, “On behalf of the massive gaggle of weirdos who made this movie, we can’t wait for the world to meet our strange, ugly baby.”
Animated by Jellyfish Pictures (The Boss Baby, The Bad Guys), ‘The Twits’ promises all the classic Dahl tricks – from Wormy Spaghetti to the Dreaded Shrinks – wrapped up in a colourful, chaotic story about the eternal battle between cruelty and kindness.
‘The Twits’ premieres Friday, 17th October 2025 on Netflix.
