Apple TV+ has released the first trailer for ‘Pluribus’, the new science fiction drama from Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, starring Rhea Seehorn (Better Call Saul). It’s as delightfully strange, darkly funny and Gilligan-y as you’d hope.
Already picked up for a second season, ‘Pluribus’ is described as “a genre-bending original in which the most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness.” Not that it tells you much, which feels entirely intentional.
The trailer doesn’t so much explain the story as offer a puzzle wrapped in polite confusion. Seehorn plays Carol, who finds herself talking to someone appearing on a TV in front of her, apparently broadcasting from the White House press room. The exchange is civil, bureaucratic and deeply odd. They thank her for calling, offer to send food and medicine, and promise to “figure out what makes you different.” Carol, clearly baffled and more than a little irritated, cuts through the calm with a perfectly timed “What the f—?” before the screen cuts to black.
Other clips show hospitals, test swabs and evacuation scenes, hinting at a viral outbreak or mass event. But given Gilligan’s track record, it’s likely to be something much stranger. ‘Pluribus’ looks to blend dark comedy, moral absurdity and speculative sci-fi in the way only he can.
Alongside Seehorn, the cast includes Karolina Wydra (Sneaky Pete), Carlos Manuel Vesga (The Hijacking of Flight 601), with guest stars Miriam Shor (American Fiction) and Samba Schutte (Our Flag Means Death).
Produced by Sony Pictures Television, ‘Pluribus’ is executive produced by Gilligan, Gordon Smith, Alison Tatlock, Diane Mercer, Allyce Ozarski and Jeff Frost, with Jenn Carroll and Trina Siopy serving as co-executive producers.
‘Pluribus’ Season 1 premieres Friday, 7th November 2025 on Apple TV+.
