Prime Video has ordered a new adult animated comedy, ‘Odd Jobs’, expanding its growing slate of animated originals. The future-set series comes from Mike McMahan (Star Trek: Lower Decks, Solar Opposites) and Dominic Dierkes (Solar Opposites), who co-created and executive-produced the show.
Produced by CBS Studios with animation handled by Titmouse, the series will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
Set in the year 2127, ‘Odd Jobs’ drops viewers into what is described as an extreme late-stage capitalist hellscape. The story follows a reluctant crew of gig workers criss-crossing the neo-Midwest, taking on the strangest and most dangerous tasks demanded by the Odd Jobs app. Think futuristic labour exploitation, only dialled up to a deeply absurd and very animated degree.
Executive producers for Titmouse include Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio and Ben Kalina, alongside McMahan and Dierkes, with Amie Karp also serving as an executive producer.
In a joint statement, McMahan and Dierkes said:
“While wandering through the wilderness, we accidentally stumbled through a portal and found ourselves hundreds of years in the future. We witnessed bizarre and grotesque portents about where humanity is heading. Instead of acting on those warnings, we’re thrilled to turn them into an animated show,”
Melissa Wolfe, Head of Animation at Amazon MGM Studios, added:
“Odd Jobs is sharp, absurd, and laugh-out-loud funny, taking a wildly imaginative look at a future that’s as chaotic as it is entertaining. Mike and Dominic have built a bold, unpredictable world filled with hilarious characters, and we couldn’t be more excited to partner with CBS Studios and Titmouse to bring this new comedy to Prime Video audiences around the world.”
‘Odd Jobs’ joins Prime Video’s expanding adult animation line-up, which already includes Invincible, Hazbin Hotel, The Legend of Vox Machina, spinoff The Mighty Nein, Secret Level and Sausage Party: Foodtopia. It also sits alongside the upcoming animated comedy Kevin, written and executive produced by Aubrey Plaza and Joe Wengert.
‘Odd Jobs’ does not yet have a premiere date but will air on Prime Video in the UK. If I want to keep track of this or any other shows, I can add them via our Never Miss system, and I’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
