Disney+ has released the official trailer and key art for ‘Alice and Steve’, a new six-part British comedy-drama starring Nicola Walker (The Split) and Jemaine Clement (What We Do in the Shadows), which lands on the streamer this June.
Billed as the ultimate “wrong-com”, the Hulu Original series comes from writer-creator Sophie Goodhart (Sex Education), director Tom Kingsley (Stath Lets Flats), and Clerkenwell Films, the production company behind Baby Reindeer, The End of the F**ing World* and Misfits.
The series follows Alice, who is left horrified when her best friend Steve starts dating her 26-year-old daughter Izzy. Faced with the prospect of losing both her best friend and her daughter in one deeply awkward swoop, Alice decides there is only one reasonable course of action: do absolutely everything in her power to end the relationship.
Unfortunately for Alice, Steve is more than ready for the attack, and what begins as a perfect friendship quickly descends into an all-out feud. Because apparently nothing says “healthy adult relationships” quite like emotional warfare, family chaos, and a best mate dating your child.
The cast also includes Joel Fry (Cruella) and Yali Topol Margalith (The Tattooist of Auschwitz), with the series described as a hilarious, messy, and complicated exploration of friendship, family, love, and revenge. It asks how far someone might go for love, or possibly just to make sure their best friend stops sleeping with their daughter.
‘Alice and Steve’ premiered at CANNESERIES in April, where it received a standing ovation and picked up three awards from the festival juries, including Best Series. The show will also have its US premiere at Tribeca Festival next month.
The six-part series was commissioned from the UK by Lee Mason, Vice President, Scripted, Disney+ EMEA. It is produced by Clerkenwell Films, one of BBC Studios’ owned production labels.
‘Alice and Steve’ premieres Monday, 8th June 2026 on Disney+ in the UK and Ireland, and Hulu in the US.
