Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson Developing ‘Bone Parish’ TV Adaptation At Starz

by Dave Elliott

Starz is getting back into business with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson for ‘Bone Parish’, a new TV adaptation of the supernatural crime graphic novel from Cullen Bunn and Jonas Scharf.

Published by BOOM! Studios, ‘Bone Parish’ heads into the dark underworld of New Orleans, where the Winters family builds a criminal empire around a powerful new drug made from the ashes of the dead. Not creepy at all, then…

The drug gives users vivid and haunting visions of the past, but as demand grows, so do the problems. Rival factions, deadly secrets, and supernatural forces begin closing in, dragging the family deeper into a violent nightmare of crime, horror, and legacy.

Diane Ademu-John (Dune: Prophecy) and Declan de Barra (The Witcher: Blood Origin) will co-showrun the project and executive produce. Stephen Christy and Mette Norkjaer from BOOM! Studios will also executive produce.

“I’ve always been drawn to stories that break the mold, and Bone Parish does exactly that. It takes crime, family, and power, and mixes it with something dark and supernatural, in a way that feels fresh. Exploring what happens when the world of the living gets mixed up with the world of the dead, this story has incredible depth, and we’re building a series that’s going to keep audiences locked in from the first episode,” shared Jackson.

The project marks the latest collaboration between Starz and Jackson’s G-Unit Film & Television. Jackson, of course, has been a major force behind the ever-expanding ‘Power’ Universe, which includes the original ‘Power’, ‘Power Book II: Ghost’, ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’, ‘Power Book IV: Force’, the recently ordered ‘Power: Legacy’, and the prequel ‘Power: Origins’.

Starz also has ‘Fightland’ on the way, a new crime-drama set in the world of British boxing, which premieres in the US this July and on Sky Atlantic in the UK in August.

“We love going on new journeys with Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson, and this one is unlike anything we’ve done before: a world steeped in horror and the supernatural, but still grounded in the family and crime storytelling our audience can’t get enough of. It’s a wild, bold swing, and exactly the kind of risk we want to be taking,” said Kathryn Busby, President, Original Programming at Starz.

‘Bone Parish’ is currently classed as ‘in development’ so may, or may not, make it to series. We’ll let you know when we hear more!
