‘NCIS’ Season 23 Suddenly Arrives On Disney+ UK, But Seven Episodes Are Missing

by Dave Elliott

Well, this is an unexpected development. After months of waiting, and Disney previously saying it did not have the UK streaming rights, ‘NCIS’ Season 23 has suddenly appeared on Disney+ UK this October. Unfortunately, anyone preparing for a long-awaited catch-up might want to check the episode menu before getting too comfortable.

The season has arrived with seven episodes missing, leaving gaps throughout the run. So, yes, UK viewers can finally find Season 23 on the service. Getting through it in order, however, is another matter entirely.

Apparently, tracking down the UK release was only the first part of this particular investigation.

A surprise arrival after the rights confusion

Last month, we looked at what was happening with ‘NCIS’ Season 23 in the UK after Disney responded to viewers asking about its absence.

At the time, Disney said it did not have the UK streaming rights to the season. That left fans without a confirmed Disney+ release and raised questions about whether the series might be heading to another UK home.

Now, with no advance warning to us, Season 23 has popped up on Disney+ UK on a seemingly random Thursday. A welcome surprise, certainly, but also a rather baffling development given the previous explanation.

Its arrival does not tell us what happened behind the scenes. We do not know whether the rights situation changed after that response or whether the earlier information was incorrect. What has changed is the listing: Season 23 is now there, although the selection of episodes is incomplete.

Which episodes are missing from Disney+ UK?

The Disney+ UK listing shows 13 episodes available in the Season 23 menu, with the following instalments absent:

Episodes 2, 4, 6, 9, 15, 17 and 20.

The episodes currently listed are 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 18 and 19.

These are scattered gaps rather than a release of consecutive opening episodes. The particularly frustrating detail is that Episode 1 is labelled ‘Prodigal Son (Part I)’, but the next episode shown is Episode 3, ‘The Sound And The Fury’. Viewers therefore encounter the first gap immediately after the opening instalment.

After such a long wait, discovering the season has finally appeared should have been the easy, happy bit. Instead, fans have another puzzle to deal with, and this one is sitting right there in the episode menu.

When will the missing episodes be added?

There is currently no confirmed answer we can give you.

The listing does not explain why those particular episodes are absent, and the gaps alone cannot tell us whether this is a technical problem, an incomplete upload or something else. It would also be premature to promise that the missing episodes will arrive later today or follow a weekly release schedule.

For now, anyone planning a catch-up should check the episode numbers before pressing play. There are episodes to watch, but viewers who want to follow the season in order will encounter several interruptions.

You can find the current selection on the Disney+ UK series page. We’ll update this article when there is more information about the gaps or the missing instalments appear. Hopefully, the next development will involve a complete episode list and considerably less detective work for subscribers.

‘NCIS’ Season 23 premieres Thursday, 1st October 2026 on Disney+ UK, with seven episodes currently missing from the listing.
