There’s been rumour, speculation, hype, and mystery, but it’s finanlly official… Blizzard announced today at their Worldwide Invitationtal in Paris that they are working on Diablo 3.

The speculation that this was going to be a ‘World of Diablo’ MMO was off though. Diablo 3 is sticking to it’s RPG roots, and seems to be a very updated, polished continuation of the Diablo RPG franchise, in the same way Starcraft 2 is an update of Starcraft. To me this makes a lot of sense. Why risk splitting the WoW playerbase with another MMO when you can expand out into other areas.

Quick rundown of things so far:

• Action RPG
• Same isometric camera positioning (although you can zoom in and out).
• Destructible and interactive environments (is it a chest?… Or is it a trap!)
• New class – Witch Doctor (pet class with mind control)
• Improved control system (hotbars, and using the mousewheel to switch skills)
• New drop -  Red orb health ‘powerups’ help keep the game moving at a lightning pace.

Have to say it’s looks pretty awesome. I love a good Action RPG, and Diablo 3 is looking like a superb Action RPG!

Joss Whedon’s Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog was one of the many internet projects to spring up during the WGA strike earlier this year. It’s a 3 part musical series written by Joss, his brothers (Zack & Jed) and Jed’s Fiancé Maurissa Tancharoen.

“It’s the story of a low-rent super-villain, the hero who keeps beating him up, and the cute girl from the laundromat he’s too shy to talk to.”

It starring 2 buffy alumni (and 1 buffy alumni by proxy) alot with a cast of, dozens:

• Nathan Fillion, as the hero Captain Hammer.
• Ex-Buffy potential Slayer “Vi“, Felicia Day as Penny the laundromat girl.
• Neil Patrick Harris, (Barney Stinson in the fantastic How I Met Your Mother, with Alyson Hannigan) plays the low-rent super-villain.

• KITT voiced GPS unit
• dual LED scanner lights like KITT’s dashboard
• start-up message that says “Hello Michael, where do you want to go today?”

Play World of Workcraft!

Firefox 3 was officially released today by the Mozilla folk, and to help celebrate the occasion, the IE devs over at Microsoft sent Mozilla a cake as congratulations. A lovely gesture on their part i’m sure you’ll agree.

Although… I can’t help thinking, if they spent more time on sorting out the code in IE, and less time baking cakes I wouldn’t have had to spend most of this afternoon messing about with CSS trying to get a clients website to look the same in IE as it does in every other browser…

IE Devs. Nice guys. Sucky developers… Here’s hoping they’re taking notes on Firefox for IE8.
