Looks like we have another superhero (well… superanti-hero) to add to the list who are currently having films made about them. This time in the form of DCs giant blue, cigar smokin, psychotic, interstellar bounty hunter Lobo. The demonic motorcycle riding loon will be directed by Guy Richie (Lock Stock, Snatch) in his first foray into the superhero genre.
I really didn’t know much about Lobo until he cropped up in DC‘s excellent 52 run but thoroughly enjoyed his story arc. He first appeared in the 80’s, but it wasn’t till he remerged in the 90s in the biker anti-hero form he has now that he really took off. I actually think he’s a good fit for Richie. He’s quirky, funny, and extremely violent, which should fit in well with Richie’s style.
Lobo is being co-produced by Silver Pictures (currently producing Richie’s Sherlock Holmes) and Weed Road for Warners.
