Warcraft Movie Get’s a Title : The Rise of the Lich King

All has been pretty quiet on the Warcraft movie front, however it looks like Blizzard have snuck in an update to their IMDb entry, and the Warcraft movie seems to have a title – ‘Warcraft: The Rise of the Lich King‘.

This makes sense to me. If your going to base the movie on one aspect of WoW lore, it would seem sensible to use the part that became the fastest selling computer game/expansion of all time! The Lich King is also one of the better know characters from the Warcraft world, and his story interweaves so well with many parts of Warcraft mythology.

There is also a possibility they could use the Christie Golden novel (also called The Rise of the Lich King) as a basis for the screenplay, which follows the story of Arthas, and his ‘convertion’ into the Lich King.

‘Warcraft: The Rise of the Lich King‘ is set to be directed by Sam Raimi, and a tentative release date of 2011.
