Wing Commander’s Chris Roberts Smashes Kickstarter Goal!
For those of you out there that have been bemoaning the lack of decent epic PC based space sims recently, get ready to grab hold of your joysticks … that sounded worse than it was meant to… Anyway… Chris Roberts – the brain behind Wing Commander (so in turn, the man partially responsable for my lack of productiveness in my 2nd year of college), has smashed through his Kickstarter funding total for his new game Star Citizen in just 1 week!
In the intro, Chris say’s “The traditional publishers don’t believe in PC or Space Sims. Venture Capitalists only want to back mobile or social gaming start ups… We say they’re wrong. We say that there is a large audience of PC gamers that want sophisticated games built for their platform. And inside this audience, a significant group of people that have always loved space games, and if given a quality one again will be happy to play it.”
As the total has nearly reached $600,000 (that’s $100,000 over it’s target!) in 1 week, it’s fair to say I think Chris is right!
If you’d like to donate (or if you donate enough, you’re basically pre-ordering), you can see Star Citizen’s Kickstarer page here.
