From the makers of Utopia and Broadchurch and the writing partnership behind Spooks, William Hurt and BAFTA award-winning Katherine Parkinson lead an all-star cast in the drama series, Humans, set in a parallel present where the latest must-have gadget for a busy family is a synth – a life-like humanoid. Worried he is losing his wife Laura (Katherine Parkison; The IT Crowd), Joe (Tom Goodman-Hill; The Imitation Game) believes the addition to the household of a highly-developed robotic servant will give them back the time they so desperately need to re-connect as a couple and as a family. Their synth Anita (Gemma Chan; Dates) is an immediate hit with Joe and the kids, but Laura seems less susceptible to Anita’s efficiently chilly charms. There’s just something about her. Every now and again she does something… almost human.
Others, though, long since abandoned any skepticism, and embraced their synths as part of the family. Retired synth engineer George (William Hurt; Damages) reminisces about the past with his rickety synth Odi (Will Tudor; Game of Thrones). To George he is more like a son than a piece of machinery, but their relationship is threatened when Odi malfunctions. Will George be forced to destroy the one thing he loves?
Meanwhile, Leo (Colin Morgan; The Fall) is a human on the run with his synth, Max and the two unlikely companions are desperately searching for someone. But who, and why? And why does this synth seem to be so unlike the others?
Written by British writing partnership Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley (Spooks, Spooks: The Greater Good), Humans is based on the award-winning Swedish sci-fi drama “Real Humans”.

I saw this advertised & really wanted to watch it then got busy & missed the 1st 3 episodes – too much to catch up. Everyone is talking about it & i can’t join in! Also Broadchurch was fantastic & I think this will be even more gripping xx

I should win this as I really wanted to watch it on tv but either missed it or the other half took control of the remote when it was on.
I should win this DVD for my son who adores fantasy books and films such as Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, he thoroughly enjoyed the Spooks series so I am sure he would appreciate this eight episode DVD with an all star cast and an intriguingly creative and imaginative plot.

I finally got round to watching the series and got up to episode 3 before finding that the bloody box decided to self-destruct. It’s suddenly vanished from Channel 4 and Sky catchup. Help me Obi Wan. You’re my only hope.
I thought this was one of the best original series to come out on British TV for years but missed several episodes due to being on night shift so would love to catch up on the bits I missed. x
