Netflix Renews The OA For Season 2

by Dave Elliott

Netflix has renewed the mysterious, mind-bending, drama The OA for a second season it has been announced.

Created by Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij (Sound of My Voice, The East), the show begins with blind girl Prairie Johnson (played by Marling herself), appearing on a bridge after having been missing for years, but with her sight restored. Returning to her home and the community she grew up in, some hail her a miracle, others a dangerous mystery, However, Prairie won’t talk about her seven years missing with the FBI or her parents, but forms a group in secret to tell her tale…

The OA was one of those Netflix shows that seemed to drop onto the streaming service in December 2016 with little notice or fanfare, but has picked up solid enough ratings for them to allow for a 2nd season.

Additional cast includes Scott Wilson (The Walking Dead, CSI), Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter, Awake, Brotherhood), Phyllis Smith (The Office, Inside Out), Emory Cohen (Smash, Brooklyn),  Alice Krige (Tyrant, Spooks), Patrick Gibson (The Tudors, Guerrilla) and Brendan Meyer (iZombie, Fear the Walking Dead).

No news on when The OA Season 2 will air yet, but if it’s the same time as last year, that would put it in December.
