Chicago P.D. star Jon Seda, who was sequestered over to Dick Wolf’s short-lived ‘Chicago Justice’, will be returning to his original home on ‘Chicago P.D.’ it has been announced.

Seda has played Intelligence Unit Detective Antonio Dawson on ‘Chicago P.D.’ since the show first started airing, but switched jobs to become an investigator for the DA’s office on ‘Chicago Justice’. When the announcement came through in May that ‘Justice’ wouldn’t be coming back after it’s 13-episode 1st season, a deal was worked out with the actor to bring him back into the fold.

“It’s a pleasure to have Jon back on ‘Chicago P.D.,’” commented exec producer Dick Wolf. “We have been working together for more than 20 years and I hope there are many more to come.”

Whilst ‘Justice’ started out in the US with reasonable ratings, it ended as the lowest numbers of all the Chicago series, hence the cancellation. Exec Producer Dick Wolf is not one to sit back on his laurels, however, and is expanding his other major franchise with ‘Law & Order True Crime’. As the title suggests, this breaks away from the straight, fictional drama model, and will be an anthology series, much in the vein of ‘American Crime Story’. The first season is going to be based on the true story of Menendez murders, where two brothers from Beverly Hills shot and killed their wealthy parents.

The transition to ‘Chicago Justice’ was Seda’s 2nd move across the franchise, as his character originally started on parent series ‘Chicago Fire’. It remains to be seen how they are going to transition the character back across into ‘Chicago P.D.’ and what job he will take.

Chicago P.D.‘ Season 4 is currently airing Thursday nights at 9pm on 5USA.
