‘Castle’ brought us a writer turned detective, now Alibi has picked up ‘Carter‘, a new US series starring Jerry O’Connell, which sees an actor turn his hand to police work.
Jerry O’Connell (‘Billions’) plays Harley Carter, a detective on a hit American TV show until he is forced to return to his sleepy hometown after an embarrassing public meltdown in Hollywood. Now that he is back, Carter taps into his acting experience to become a real-life detective, partnering with his two best friends, Sam Shaw (Sydney Poitier – ‘Heartsong’, ‘Chicago P.D.’) and Dave Leigh (Kristian Bruun – ‘Orphan Black’). The acquisition comes from Sony Pictures Television (SPT).
“We are excited to be working with Sony again and look forward to another successful series together,” commented Emma Sparks, UKTV’s Head Of Acquisitions. “Carter is a show that is bursting with energy, drama and action. We can’t wait to bring Harley Carter’s detective dynamism to the UK.”
Along with ‘Carter’, Alibi has also taken rights to 2001 series ‘The Guardian’, starring Simon Baker (‘The Mentalist’) which previously ran for 3 seasons on the Hallmark Channel in the UK, and ‘Unforgettable’, starring Poppy Montgomery (‘Without a Trace’), which previously aired on Sky Living.
“We are thrilled to be bringing such a great range of enjoyable series to UKTV audiences,” adds Mark Young, Senior Vice President, UK, Iberia & Africa Distribution, Sony Pictures Television. “‘Carter’, ‘Unforgettable’ and ‘The Guardian’ will have a great home on Alibi and we are excited to continue our relationship with UKTV.”
‘Carter‘, ‘Unforgettable’ and ‘The Guardian’ are all set to air in 2018, exact dates to be confirmed.
