‘Killing Eve’ Star Kim Bodnia Land Role Of Vesemir In ‘The Witcher’ Season 2

The Witcher has found one of the key roles for Season 2, as it’s announced ‘Killing Eve’ star Kim Bodnia will play Vesemir, one of the oldest and most experienced witchers.

Based on the best-selling fantasy series of books, ‘The Witcher’ is an epic tale of fate and family. The story of the intertwined destinies of three individuals in the vast world of The Continent, where humans, elves, witchers, gnomes, and monsters battle to survive and thrive, and where good and evil is not easily identified.

Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward the powerful sorceress Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), and Ciri (Freya Allan), a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.

Bodnia’s Vesemir, a charming relic of the witcher Golden Age. He is the oldest and most experienced Witcher in the series, as well as a father figure to Geralt. As one of the survivors of the Massacre at Kaer Morhen, a haunting slaughter that nearly exterminated the Witchers, he is fiercely protective of the remaining few, who he sees as an endangered community who can find glory on “the Path” slaying monsters.

Whilst Bodnia will be a familiar face to fans of ‘Killing Eve’, where he played Konstantin, he has also starred in a huge range of tv & film including the hugely popular Scandinavia drama ‘Bron/Broen’ (aka The Bridge). He can be seen next in Netflix series ‘The Letter for the King’.

“I am so thrilled to welcome Kim Bodnia to the cast of The Witcher,” commented showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. “I have admired his unique talents in shows like Killing Eve and The Bridge, and cannot wait for him to bring strength, tenacity, and warmth to the character of Vesemir, who is such an integral part of our upcoming season.”
